The Children’s Center of Hamden’s Quality Parenting Center provides a warm, welcoming place where children living in foster homes can spend meaningful time with their families.
Designed to support bonding, positive shared experiences, and permanency planning, the Quality Parenting Center creates a setting where families can focus on what matters most - moving forward together, whatever that might look like.
A Welcoming, Supportive Space
The Quality Parenting Center supports children living in foster care and their families as they participate in scheduled visits. These meetings take place in private, comfortable rooms filled with games, toys, and activities that encourage interaction and engagement.
We understand that these visits can bring a range of emotions. Our goal is to create a space where families feel welcomed, respected, and supported - without judgment.
There is no cost to families for participating in visits to the Quality Parenting Center. The program is funded through a contract with the Department of Children and Families (DCF), ensuring that every family has access to a safe place to connect.
More Than a Visit
While QPC is designed primarily as a visitation space, it also serves as a point of connection for families who may need additional guidance, including permanency planning. The QPC supports families working toward a variety of permanency goals, including reunification, transfer of guardianship, or adoption. When reunification is not the plan, visits continue to play an important role - helping children maintain meaningful relationships and preserve connections that support their emotional well-being.
Staff can help families access resources, answer questions, and connect with other services when appropriate - so support extends beyond the visit itself.
