Outpatient Behavioral Health Services
Flexible, Ongoing Support for Children and Teens
When challenges begin to affect a child’s behavior, emotions, or daily life, early support can make a meaningful difference.
The Children’s Center of Hamden’s Outpatient Services provide accessible, ongoing behavioral health care for children and teens — helping them navigate challenges, build skills, and move forward with confidence.
You don’t need to have all the answers to get started.
How Outpatient Services Work
Outpatient services provide regular, scheduled therapy without requiring a higher level of care.
Children and teens meet consistently with a clinician to address emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs — while continuing daily life at home, in school, and in their community.
Our outpatient services support children and adolescents experiencing a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. Care is individualized and flexible, designed to support progress both during sessions and in everyday life. Services may include:
- Individual therapy
- Family involvement as part of treatment
- Psychiatric evaluation and medication management, when appropriate
- Trauma-informed behavioral health care
Our goal is to provide care that is practical, responsive, and aligned with each child or teen’s needs.

A Personalized Approach to Care
Every child and family brings a different set of needs — and care should reflect that.
Our clinicians take the time to understand each youth and family, developing a personalized plan that addresses both immediate concerns and long-term growth.
Trauma-Informed and Strengths-Based
We recognize that behavior is often connected to underlying experiences. Our focus is on understanding, not judgment.
Family-Centered
Families are an essential part of the process, helping reinforce progress and build consistency beyond sessions.
Connected to a Larger System of Care
If additional support is needed, our team helps guide next steps — ensuring families are connected to the right level of care.
