The Children's Center of Hamden is proud to share that, thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we raised nearly $45,000 during The Great Give 2026.
Over the course of 36 hours, hundreds of donors, supporters, staff, board members, families, and friends came together to invest in the mental health and well-being of children, young adults, and families across our region.
Every gift, large and small, helps ensure that children facing anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use challenges, and other behavioral health needs can access the care and support they deserve.
Investing in Healing and Hope
This year's Great Give was about more than raising dollars.
It was an opportunity to introduce more people to the work happening every day at The Children's Center of Hamden and the children and families whose lives are changed through that work.
For more than 190 years, The Children's Center has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. Today, we provide a continuum of behavioral health services that includes outpatient therapy, substance use treatment, extended day treatment, special education, psychiatric residential care, and family support services. Our mission continues to be rooted in one simple belief: children and families deserve access to the care they need to heal, grow, and thrive.
Meeting Children Where They Are
Every day, our clinicians, educators, counselors, and support staff meet children in some of their most difficult moments.
They help children learn to manage anxiety. They support families navigating crises. They provide safe, structured environments where young people can build confidence, develop new skills, and discover strengths they may not yet see in themselves.
As one of our program leaders recently shared, some of the most meaningful moments come from witnessing the transformation that can happen when a child receives the right support:
"They come in struggling and overwhelmed, and by the end of treatment, you're seeing a whole new kid."
Those transformations are possible because of the dedication of our staff, and because of the support of our community.
