This program was established in July 2003 and services boys and girls with
rapidly deteriorating psychiatric conditions who are in the midst of a crisis
but do not require hospitalization.
This coed program services up to eight youth and their families for a maximum of
15 days. During that time the CARE team assists youth and families in
determining the origin of the crisis and utilizes a strength based approach to
identify resources to help families achieve and maintain stability. All
guardians are expected to create, with us, crisis plans to ensure safety at all
times.
The CARE team provides a compassionate and supportive environment and is
dedicated to helping each youth feel comfortable during his/her stay. A child
psychiatrist, clinician, childcare counselors, and nurse create a partnership
with each youth and family to contribute to their success in the program.
Referrals are accepted by any mental health clinician in the community. Please
contact the admissions cell phone at (203) 430-4737. A weekly email is
distributed notifying referral sources about bed availability. To be added to
the e-mail notification or for more information about CARE, please contact:
Program Director Julie Nesteruk, LMFT at (203) 248-2116, ext. 276.
